12 Free Fractional Shares

Webull is a brokerage app that is handing new users 12 free fractional shares right now. You get them by making an initial deposit of $100 or more. Opening the account also comes with 1 month of Webull Premium. A deposit as small as $0.01 activates a 1.4% APY Booster for 30 days on up to $10,000 of eligible cash. Webull does not state the dollar value of the shares up front.

Tip: Open My Rewards as soon as your deposit posts. The shares and the Booster Card are both claimed there, and the Booster Card has to be claimed within 30 calendar days after it is issued.

How the New Webull Promotion Works

Webull’s headline is “Earn up to 5.0% APY with Premium and get 12 fractional shares!” That is really three separate rewards with three separate triggers, so it helps to take them one at a time. If you like stacking offers like this one, our list of sign-up bonus apps has more that do not need a deposit at all.

  1. Open a Webull account. Webull says you can join in minutes with no minimum deposit required. Opening the account gets you 1 month of Webull Premium.
  2. Make your initial deposit. Any amount from $0.01 activates the 1.4% APY Booster. An initial deposit of $100 or more is what earns the 12 free fractional shares.
  3. Go to My Rewards. Rewards are claimed in the My Rewards section of the app. The Booster Card must be claimed there within 30 calendar days after it is issued.
  4. Set a reminder for the Premium month. Premium is a paid subscription after the free month, so check the price and the cancel terms in the app before it ends.

Already have a Webull account? Webull says existing customers who never received a Premium reward get 1 month of Premium when they fund with $0.01 or more.

Where the 5.0% APY Comes From

The advertised 5.0% APY is two numbers added together: the current 3.60% APY available with Webull Premium, plus the promotional 1.4% APY Booster. Without Premium, Webull lists its standard cash management rate at 0.5% APY, which the Booster lifts to 1.9% while it is active.

The Booster is small in dollar terms. An extra 1.4% APY on the $10,000 maximum for 30 days works out to roughly $11.50 in added interest, and less if you hold less cash. If you are mainly after a place to park savings, compare this with the options in our guide to passive income ideas before you move money.

Here is how Webull compares Premium with a standard account on its promo page:

  • Cash management: 3.6% APY with Premium, 0.5% APY standard (each plus the 1.4% Booster)
  • IRA contribution match: 3.5% with Premium, 1% standard
  • IRA transfer match: 1% with Premium, 0% standard
  • Margin rates: as low as 3.9% with Premium, 8.74% standard
  • Level 2 data: $0 per month with Premium, $2.99 per month standard
  • OPRA data: $0 per month with Premium, $2.99 per month standard

The Catches

  • The Booster is temporary and capped. It applies for 30 days after activation, to up to $10,000 of eligible interest-bearing cash.
  • Premium is only free for 1 month. After that it is a paid subscription, and Webull notes that fees may apply. The promo page does not show the price, so look it up in the app and decide whether to cancel before the month ends.
  • The APY is variable. Webull says the Premium APY is subject to change, so 3.60% is today’s rate and not a promise.
  • You have to claim the rewards. The shares and the Booster Card are claimed in My Rewards. The Booster Card expires if it is not claimed within 30 calendar days after issuance.
  • The value of the shares is not stated up front. Webull’s promo page says 12 fractional shares and does not give a dollar figure, so do not count on a specific amount.
  • Some account types are excluded. Joint accounts, futures accounts, IRA accounts, smart advisor accounts, entity accounts and event contract accounts do not qualify for the promotion.
  • Webull is not a bank. Webull describes its cash program as offering “FDIC coverage up to $5M across member banks.” Read the cash program terms so you know how that applies to your balance.

Investing involves risk, and the value of your shares can go down.

Who This Promo Suits and Who Should Skip It

It suits you if you were already planning to open a brokerage account, you have $100 you can leave invested, and you are organized enough to claim the rewards and review the Premium subscription before the free month runs out.

Skip it if you need the $100 for bills, you want a known cash amount, or you tend to forget free trials. A bonus paid in shares of unstated value is not the same as cash in hand. If quick cash is the goal, the offers in our $50 sign up bonus guide and our list of ways to get free money are a better fit.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the current Webull promo?

New users get 1 month of Webull Premium for opening an account, a 1.4% APY Booster for an initial deposit of $0.01 or more, and 12 free fractional shares for an initial deposit of $100 or more. Terms apply.

How much do I have to deposit to get the free shares?

An initial deposit of $100 or more earns the 12 free fractional shares. There is no minimum deposit to open the account, and a deposit of $0.01 is enough to activate the APY Booster, but that smaller deposit does not earn the shares.

How much are the 12 free fractional shares worth?

Webull does not state the value of the shares up front on its promo page. You see what you received after you claim them in My Rewards. Their value can go up or down after that.

Is Webull Premium free?

Premium is free for 1 month with this promo. After that it is a paid subscription. The promo page does not list the price, so check the price and the cancel terms in the app before the free month ends.

How long does the 5.0% APY last?

The 5.0% figure is the current 3.60% Premium APY plus a 1.4% APY Booster. The Booster applies for 30 days after activation on up to $10,000 of eligible interest-bearing cash, and the Premium APY is variable and can change.

Which accounts are excluded from the Webull promo?

Joint accounts, futures accounts, IRA accounts, smart advisor accounts, entity accounts and event contract accounts are excluded from the promotion.
