I downloaded 47 game apps that claimed to pay real money. Most were complete garbage. Some paid pennies for hours of grinding. A few were outright scams.
I found 8 that actually paid real money to my PayPal. Not life-changing income, but legitimate side money. $150-$300/month when used consistently.
Here's what actually worked. Yes, these links are tracked—that's how sites stay online. I only included apps that paid me personally.
- This is not passive income
- This will not scale
- You trade time for money
- If you hate games or small tasks, stop here
I'm sharing this because Reddit is full of fake lists. These are the only ones that actually paid me.
The Apps That Actually Paid Me
1. Testerup
$5 InstantlyFastest first payout on this list. You create a free account and the $5 lands right away, before you have tested anything. After that you get matched with games and apps to try before most people ever see them, and some of those offers pay over $100 each once you get into the bigger tests. No deposit, no card, no survey wall to grind through. If you already download new apps and mess around with them for ten minutes, this is the one that pays you for the habit you have anyway.
2. ReferralWallet
⭐ Free to JoinThe most fun app on this list, and it costs nothing to start. You join free and rip open packs, and every pack reveals a real cash or gift card reward from a partner brand. No deposit, no credit card, no surveys. The streak system stacks bigger rewards the longer you keep checking in, so a few seconds a day actually compounds. If you want earning to feel like opening presents, start here.
3. BigCash
$1 Min CashoutPlay games, complete offers, test apps — cash out for as little as $1. Over $20M paid since 2015 with 3,000+ active offers. Lowest cashout threshold I've found anywhere. PayPal payouts hit your account in under 30 seconds.
4. Freecash
$35+/DaySurveys, app testing, offers, games — all in one place. What sets Freecash apart is the payout speed: average time from completing a task to getting paid is 17 minutes. Cash out as low as $0.50 for crypto or $5 for PayPal. The most versatile platform on this list. 4.8 stars across 239K reviews.
5. Branded (Seen on CBS)
Up to $100/OfferGet paid to test apps and games before they launch. Some offers pay up to $100 each. Higher-paying tasks take more time but the payouts actually hit your account. The more you use it, the more high-paying tasks unlock.
6. Swagbucks
$10 Sign-Up BonusThe OG. Games, shopping cashback, videos, web searches — everything earns points. $150M+ paid out over 12 years. The shopping cashback alone pays for itself if you buy anything online. New users get a $10 bonus at sign-up. $50-$100/month is realistic with consistent use.
7. InboxDollars
Free $5The simplest starting point. Games, surveys, reading emails, trying products. Get $5 cash just for creating an account — money before you do anything. Spending 5-10 minutes a day adds up to roughly $50/month. Best for beginners who want to see money immediately.
How I Tested These Apps
I only included apps where I could verify real payouts. Here's how I filtered them:
- I cashed out to PayPal or bank account (no gift cards as proof)
- I tested each app for at least 2-3 weeks minimum
- I ignored referral bonuses when evaluating quality
- If support ghosted me or tracking failed, the app got cut
- I prioritized apps with low cashout minimums
If an app didn't pay me directly, it's not on this list.
TL;DR: Start With These 2
If you are only going to download 2 apps from this list, start with Testerup because the $5 lands the moment you sign up and the test offers scale from there, and ReferralWallet because it is free and you can rip a pack for a real reward in under a minute.
Reality check: This is not passive income. You're trading time for money. If you use 4 to 5 of these apps consistently—during commutes, lunch breaks, whenever—you might hit $150 to $300/month. Some months less. That's not quit-your-job money, but it covers groceries or a car payment.
I've been running these for months. The payouts are real, but it takes actual effort. If you're looking for something automated or scalable, this isn't it. If you're fine with small tasks for small money that actually shows up in PayPal, keep reading.
